Australian pacer Mitchell Starc has recorded a major milestone in his tremendously blistering Test career, climbing to the top of the ICC men's Test bowling rankings for the first time after a sensational performance against Bangladesh during the second Test in Mackay.

Starc's match-winning performance played a key role in Australia's eye-catching innings-and-51-run victory in the second Test. Starc returned with impressive figures of 6/12 in Bangladesh's first innings before returning to claim another devastating figure of 4/39 runs in the second. That 10-wicket haul earned him a two-place rise in the rankings and took him past Indian superstar Jasprit Bumrah. Bumrah, meanwhile, slipped to second, while New Zealand's Matt Henry went down to third.

Australia's captain Pat Cummins made major gains, climbing one position to fourth. England pacers Ollie Robinson and Josh Tongue also benefitted following their performances against Pakistan at Headingley. Robinson moved 15 places to 11th, while Tongue climbed 16 spots to settle at 17th.
