IND vs SA, 2nd Test day 1: South Africa reach 247/6 at stumps on day 1

It turned out to be an engaging opening day of the second Test between India and South Africa on Saturday in Guwahati, as the visitors posted 247/6 at stumps after opting to bat first. It was a day of shifting momentum, with South Africa’s aggressive start tempered by India’s disciplined fightback, led brilliantly by Kuldeep Yadav.
Electing to bat, South Africa’s openers came out with positive intent, with Aiden Markram and Ryan Rickelton looking in sublime touch. Markram smashed a brisk 38, while Ryan Rickelton contributed a fluent 35. After India struck twice to dismiss both openers, South Africa found consolidation in the middle order. Tristan Stubbs played with maturity, bringing up a well-crafted 49. Skipper Temba Bavuma offered stability, guiding the innings with a composed 41. At stumps, Senuran Muthusamy was unbeaten on 25 with new batter Kyle Verreynne at the other end unbeaten at 1.
The highlight of India’s bowling effort was unquestionably Kuldeep Yadav, who returned with three scalps. Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj and Ravindra Jadeja shared one wicket each.
