Stuart Broad's advice to England on tackling Travis Head

England legend Stuart Broad has urged his former teammates to rethink their approach to Travis Head after the explosive batter proved the decisive factor in the opening Test of the Ashes series in Perth. Head turned the heads with his fierce assault in the first Test, smashing a match-winning hundred to steer Australia to a dominant eight-wicket win.
He was elevated to the top of the order alongside debutant Jake Weatherald after regular opener Usman Khawaja was sidelined with back spasms. His promotion paid off handsomely, with the left-hander blasting a superb 123 in the fourth innings to hand Australia a 1â0 lead in the five-match Ashes series.
âWhat they could have done when Travis Head was really going, then you have to use your awareness to say, âLetâs get him off strike, letâs let him to face one ball an over and itâs a clip off his hip and he gets one and you donât let him face four, five balls an over and he hits a boundary in thoseââ, Broad told Australian radio station SEN.
Broad stated that England should try and get Head off strike to limit the number of balls he faces.
âAnd crucially, when you get him off strike, Marnus Labuschagne comes down to the facing end, you bowl dots at him and create pressure on him. Suddenly, you do that for forty minutes, and Travis Head gets bored of getting a single and tries something outrageous and might get out."
Australia, meanwhile, lead the five-match Ashes series 1-0, and the second Test is scheduled to be played at the Gabba from December 4.
