Harbhajan Singh questions team management over Shami’s continued exclusion

Former India off-spinner Harbhajan Singh has openly criticised the Indian team management for sidelining senior fast bowler Mohammed Shami, despite his impressive run in domestic cricket. Shami, who last donned the India jersey during the team's victorious Champions Trophy campaign, has been in strong form in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. The veteran pacer has claimed nine wickets in five matches.

"Where is Shami? I don't know why Shami is not playing. I get it, you have Prasidh, he is a good bowler, but he still has a lot to learn. You had good bowlers, and you have slowly sidelined them. With Bumrah, this is a different bowling attack, and without Bumrah, it is entirely different attack altogether. We have to learn the art of winning games without Jasprit Bumrah," Harbhajan said in his YouTube video.

Harbhajan stated that India need to have match-winners, who can deliver masterful performances in high-pressure situations.

"In England, without Bumrah, Siraj was unbelievable, fantastic. India won all the Tests where Bumrah did not feature. But, in shorter formats, we need to find people who can win you games, whether it be fast bowling or spin. Find spinners who can come in and take wickets. There is Kuldeep, but what about the rest?" he added.

Indian bowlers recently failed to defend a total of 358 against South Africa in the second ODI in Raipur, handing the Proteas a comfortable win to level the three-match series 1-1.
