Ahead of SA20 Season 4, South African spin stalwart Keshav Maharaj has been unveiled as the new captain of the Pretoria Capitals, the franchise announced on Friday. Maharaj takes over the reins from Rilee Rossouw, who was released by the franchise prior to the player auction. Maharaj, having previously captained the Durban’s Super Giants in recent SA20 campaigns, carries huge experience.

"Maharaj brings a wealth of international pedigree across formats, along with a proven track record of guiding teams with composure, clarity and intent," the Capitals said in a statement.

"Having captained South Africa in white-ball cricket and served as a senior figure within the national setup for several years, Maharaj's leadership experience, tactical understanding and consistency make him an invaluable addition in this role."

His presence strengthens the balance and direction of the Pretoria Capitals squad as the team heads into the new season."

Recently, former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly also joined the Capitals’ backroom staff as head coach, replacing Jonathan Trott. Ganguly will be assisted by South African great Shaun Pollock.
