New Zealand have recalled left-arm spinner Ajaz Patel to their squad for the third and final Test against West Indies, set to begin on December 18 at Mount Maunganui. Patel replaces pacer Blair Tickner, who was ruled out after dislocating his shoulder while fielding on the opening day of the second Test in Wellington. Patel's last Test appearance came against India at the Wankhede Stadium.

Since making his international debut in 2018, Patel has played 21 tests, claiming 85 wickets. Wicketkeeper-batter Tom Blundell has returned to the 14-member squad, replacing Mitchell Hay. Hay impressed on debut in Wellington with a composed knock of 61; however, Blundell’s recall underscores the team management’s preference for experience in a series decider. New Zealand, who are currently leading the three-match series 1-0 after drawing the first game and winning the second, will look to claim the series victory.

New Zealand squad: Tom Latham (c), Tom Blundell, Michael Bracewell, Kristian Clarke, Devon Conway, Jacob Duffy, Zak Foulkes, Daryl Mitchell, Ajaz Patel, Glenn Phillips, Michael Rae, Rachin Ravindra, Kane Williamson, Will Young
