NZ vs WI, 3rd Test: All you need to know

As the West Indies tour of New Zealand reaches its climax, both teams are gearing up for a crucial third and final Test match at Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui beginning December 18, 2025. Following two exciting encounters, the visitors and the hosts have everything to play for to serve their purpose. The first Test in Christchurch ended in a tense draw as West Indies put up a spirited fight. New Zealand, meanwhile, took control in the second Test at Basin Reserve, Wellington, with a convincing nine-wicket victory, riding on a dominant bowling performance led by Jacob Duffy and excellent batting from Devon Conway and Kane Williamson. With the win in the second game, New Zealand are 1–0 up in the series.
Notably, Blair Tickner, who dislocated his shoulder on the boundary during the opening day of the Wellington Test, will miss the third Test. Ajaz Patel has been brought into the squad as Tickner's replacement.
For the West Indies, the decider is a chance to end a long wait for a Test win on New Zealand soil. They have shown determination, and a victory would help them salvage pride from the tour. Moreover, a win at Bay Oval would not only level the series but also mark a significant achievement for a side that has struggled historically in New Zealand conditions
