In a big setback to the Hobart Hurricanes, Australia’s powerful middle-order batter Tim David has been ruled out for the rest of the 2025–26 BBL season after sustaining a grade two strain in his right hamstring during Hobart’s Boxing Day match against the Perth Scorchers.

The power-hitter batter picked up the injury while trying to take a quick single. While running, he suddenly pulled up in discomfort and was forced to retire hurt. Subsequent scans confirmed the moderate hamstring strain.

"Tim David sustained a grade two right hamstring strain during his recent BBL match. As a result, David has been ruled out for the remainder of the BBL. David's Rehabilitation timeline is has him tracking to be available for selection for the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup," Hurricanes said in a release on X.

David’s absence will be a huge setback for the defending champions, as he has been one of their most consistent match-winners with his remarkable power-hitting ability.
