India unveil squad for New Zealand ODIs, Shreyas Iyer returns
India have named a 15-member squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series against New Zealand, starting January 11, 2026. The squad will be led by Shubman Gill. Wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant has been named in the squad. His comeback will be closely watched, as India are scheduled to play a T20I series following the ODIs.
Shreyas Iyer has been named vice-captain; however, his participation in the series is subject to fitness clearance from the BCCI Centre of Excellence (COE). Shreyas Iyer has been out of action since October last year following a spleen injury suffered during India's third ODI against Australia.
In a surprise decision, veteran fast bowler Mohammed Shami has been left out of the squad once again despite showing promising form in recent domestic matches. In a huge development, pacer Mohammed Siraj earns a place in the squad. His last appearance for India in the ODIs was against Australia in the third ODI in October last year.
