Courtney Walsh named Zimbabwe’s bowling consultant ahead of T20 World Cup

Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) has appointed former West Indies fast bowler Courtney Walsh as the team’s bowling consultant for the upcoming T20I World Cup 2026. Walsh brings a wealth of experience, having previously served as a specialist bowling coach for the Bangladesh men’s team. In addition, he served as the head coach for the West Indies women’s team. Notably, Walsh was the first cricketer to reach the landmark of 500 wickets in Test cricket.
“I think we have a very good chance once we execute well and work together as a team and adapt to the conditions. The combination of the attack has impressed me from watching and the potential that’s within the team,” Walsh said in a statement by Zimbabwe Cricket.
ZC Managing Director Givemore Makoni lauded Walsh's appointment.
"As we prepare for the ICC Men's T20 World Cup, it was important for us to bring in someone who understands what it takes to succeed on the global stage. Courtney's knowledge, professionalism and ability to mentor players will be invaluable as we sharpen our bowling resources for the challenges ahead,” Makoni said.
