Sri Lanka name strong squad for England ODIs

Sri Lanka have named a 17-member squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series against England, with the opening encounter scheduled to begin on January 22 at the R. Premadasa Cricket Stadium in Colombo. Charith Asalanka, who was relieved of the leadership role for the upcoming T20I World Cup, will lead the side in the ODI series. 

A lot of players from Sri Lanka’s previous ODI series against Pakistan have retained their spots. At the top of the order, Pathum Nissanka and Kusal Mendis will lead thye attack. While, their middle order is quite settled, with Sadeera Samarawickrama and Kamindu Mendis continuing to anchor the innings. 

In the all-round department, Wanindu Hasaranga, Dunith Wellalage and Dhananjaya de Silva will be valuable. Their spin attack will be bolstered by Maheesh Theekshana and Jeffrey Vandersay, along with Wanindu Hasaranga. The pace attack appears well-settled, featuring Dushmantha Chameera, Pramod Madushan, Asitha Fernando, Milan Rathnayake and Eshan Malinga.
