Sri Lanka have suffered a significant setback ahead of the third T20I against England, with fast bowler Eshan Malinga ruled out after sustaining a dislocated shoulder. Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) confirmed on Monday that the pacer will miss Tuesday’s match. The latest setback puts his participation in the upcoming T20I World Cup at risk.

"Fast bowler Eshan Malinga, who sustained an injury to his left shoulder, will not be available for selection for the third T20I against England," SLC said in a social media post.

"He will return to Colombo today, where he will undergo an MRI scan to assess the extent of the injury and determine the next course of action."

The injury occurred during Sri Lanka’s defeat to England in the second T20I at Pallekele on Sunday. Malinga, having made his T20I debut in November 2025, has played 8 matches for Sri Lanka. He has taken eight wickets in T20Is.
