Steve Smith joins Sialkot Stallionz at PSL

Steve Smith has taken another huge step in his bid to muscle his way back into Australia’s T20 plans, signing a deal with Sialkot Stallionz for the upcoming season of Pakistan Super League (PSL). Recently, Smith rolled back the years during BBL, producing masterclass performances. Appearing for Sydney Sixers, he was once again among the competition’s most influential players, blazing 299 runs in six innings.
Despite his high-quality performance in the BBL, Smith was notably absent from Australia’s squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2026.
"One of the all time great players is a PSL Stallionz! Huge for our franchise and the PSL T20," Tim Paine posted on X.
At the PSL, Smith was roped in by the franchise, as a direct signing, with each team allowed to sign one overseas player who did not appear in the last edition of the tournament. Notably, the Sialkot Stallionz are set to make their PSL debut, along with the Hyderabad Kingsmen. The Sialkot Stallionz will be coached by Smith’s former teammate Tim Paine for its inaugural season.
