Bas de Leede shines in Netherlands' commanding win over Namibia

Bas de Leede produced a thrilling 72-run performance, helping Netherlands beat Namibia by seven wickets in the 10th match of the ongoing T20I World Cup on Tuesday at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. The victory came as a strong response from Netherlands after going down narrowly in their opening match against Pakistan last week. Bas de Leede was also effective with the ball, nabbing two important wickets to dwindle Namibia's momentum.
Namibia, inserted to bat, posted a respectable total of 156/8 in 20 overs, with contributions from Jan Frylinck and Nicol Loftie-Eaton, scoring 30 and 42, respectively. While Namibia lacked a big innings to take full control of the game, JJ Smit down the order slammed a crucial 22 off 15 to give some help. Namibia batters, despite looking dangerous with big hitting, failed to sustain the pressure that did not allow them to build much-needed momentum in the innings.
In reply, Netherlands chased down the total with 12 balls to spare, overcoming their heartbreaking defeat against Pakistan. All-rounder Bas de Leeds starred with a match-winning unbeaten knock to guide the side to a comprehensive win. His innings featured smart shot selection and power-hitting as he smashed four sixes and five boundaries in his instrumental knock. He found valuable support from middle-order batters after Colin Ackermann and Scott Edwards scored 32 and 18*, respectively. The defeat marked a sad start to Namibia's campaign at the World Cup.
