India opener Abhishek Sharma has been discharged from hospital after being treated for a stomach infection and fever, giving a sigh of relief to the team ahead of the Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 encounter against Namibia on Thursday. However, the team management is yet to take a final call on whether Abhishek will feature in Thursday’s match. Sharma was admitted shortly after the team arrived in New Delhi, where he reportedly complained of discomfort and high fever.

The star batter has been a key figure at the top of the order in India’s T20 setup, providing aggressive starts and maintaining pressure. Addressing media ahead of India's match against Namibia, Indian batter Tilak Varma provided a positive update on Sharma.

“When we reached Delhi, he went to hospital for examinations," Varma told reporters on the eve of the match against Namibia.

"He has been discharged today, and he is doing well. We have got one more day for the game, so hopefully we will decide by tomorrow how he feels, and we'll go with it."

In another positive update for India, Varma also confirmed that pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah has fully recovered from his recent illness and is fit to play.

"He is absolutely fine. He is doing better, and as I said, we have got one more day. So, hopefully, he will be back in the team. If he is doing better, then team takes a call and I think he will be back tomorrow for the second game," Varma said about Bumrah.
