Afghanistan’s talismanic leg-spinner Rashid Khan has become the first bowler to claim 700 wickets in T20 cricket. The milestone came during Afghanistan’s T20 World Cup clash against the UAE in Delhi on Monday. Rashid headed into the match on 699 wickets and wasted little time in reaching the landmark.

In the 16th over of the UAE innings, his final over of the spell, he dismissed Muhammad Arfan to accomplish the landmark achievement. Rashid has long been ahead of the chasing pack in T20 cricket. His consistency has allowed him to build a remarkable lead over other bowlers.

The now-retired West Indies all-rounder Dwayne Bravo sits second on the all-time list with 631 wickets, having previously held the record before Rashid surpassed him. Among active players, West Indies mystery spinner Sunil Narine trails Rashid and sits third overall with 613 wickets. Meanwhile, Afghanistan beat UAE by five wickets to keep their Super 8 chances alive.
