"His father wasn't well": India provide huge update on Rinku Singh

India’s batting coach Sitanshu Kotak confirmed on Wednesday that Rinku Singh will rejoin the squad on Wednesday evening, just a day before India’s second Super 8 encounter against Zimbabwe on Thursday. Rinku had left the team’s camp in Chennai on Tuesday evening after his father’s health deteriorated. He rushed home to be with his family, but according to Kotak, Rinku will be back for the high-stakes clash. Rinku has featured in all of India’s matches so far in the tournament, playing a key role.
"And Rinku, his father wasn't well. So he went back. I think he is coming back today evening," Kotak said at the press conference.
India enter the Zimbabwe fixture with little margin for error. The 76-run defeat to South Africa in their opening Super 8 match dealt a severe blow to their net run rate, making this clash a must-win showdown. The loss against South Africa exposed familiar woes, particularly at the top of the order. Another slip-up would leave India's title defence hanging by a thread
India’s openers have struggled to provide solid starts, and the No. 3 position has failed to deliver consistency. India need to win big against Zimbabwe, who have shown great in this tournament. Their fearless approach has given tough times to the opposition teams.
