As the Super 8 stage of the Men’s T20 World Cup reaches its business end, Zimbabwe are preparing for their huge clash against India in Chennai on Thursday. India are entering the match under immense pressure, as they need to beat Zimbabwe in order to bolster their semi-finals chances. Speaking ahead of the match, Zimbabwe player Brad Evans made it clear that they are not getting carried away by the magnitude of the opposition. Instead, they remain focused on themselves.

“They are a great side. We are not too focused on them. We are focused on us. So, you know, we put our plans in place, and we have had the relevant conversations within our batting groups, our bowling groups and our fielding groups. And so, yeah, we are fully focused on us, not the opposition. We know they are one of the best sides in the world. So we are just going to leave everything out there,” Evans said while speaking to ANI.

Zimbabwe have been one of the spirited sides of this T20 World Cup, delivering solid performances. Evans, who has been central to their campaign with both bat and ball, believes that their defeat against West Indies in their last game damaged their net run rate.

“The last game did not go as planned. We came across a side which is experienced in these conditions, and a lot of squad members played their first game in India. But we stood up to the challenge. We were not good enough, but we have taken a lot on the board and learnt our lessons. Hopefully, in the game against India, we can put our best foot forward,” he said.
