"We were loud and clear": Ex-Pakistan batter slams team's disappointing campaign at T20 World Cup
Former Pakistan skipper Mohammad Yousuf has strongly criticized the Salman Agha-led side after their premature exit from the T20 World Cup 2026, questioning both leadership and overall performance. Pakistan’s campaign came to an end on Saturday despite a narrow five-run victory over Sri Lanka in their final Super Eight Group 2 match in Pallekele.
Pakistan finished level on three points with the New Zealand national cricket team, but a superior Net Run Rate (NRR) allowed the Blackcaps to book a place in the semi-finals.
Chasing a massive target of 213, Sri Lanka crossed the 148-run mark that mathematically guaranteed Pakistan's exit from the tournament and confirmed New Zealand's place in the semi-finals. Though Pakistan held their nerve to secure victory to end their campaign on a positive note.
"We were loud and clear in declaring we were headed for the finals. Turns out, they meant the final moments of a sinking ship. Do we even have enough life jackets, or is this just another Titanic? No worries! #PSL is around the corner, and this embarrassment will soon be forgotten as pride rises again. #SLvsPAK," Mohammad Yousuf wrote on X.
Pakistan also suffered disappointing setback against India with a heavy 61-run defeat. Later, in the Super Eight stage, Pakistan suffered another damaging blow, going down by two wickets to the England.
