Uncertainty hovers over Harshit Rana's participation in IPL 2026

Ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026, Kolkata Knight Riders have been dealt a significant blow, with pacer Harshit Rana, according to reports, set to miss a major portion of the tournament due to injury. Rana is currently recovering from knee surgery he underwent in February. He picked up the injury during a warm-up match ahead of the Men's T20 World Cup against South Africa.

Currently, Rana is undergoing rehabilitation, and there is no confirmed timeline for his return to competitive cricket. This uncertainty is a big headache for KKR as they prepare for the IPL season, which kicks off on March 28. If Rana is ruled out for the entire tournament, it will mark a frustrating run for the young pacer because he has already missed the T20 World Cup. KKR will also be without experienced left-arm seamer Mustafizur Rahman for the upcoming season.

Recently, he had been released by the BCCI following the instructions from the BCCI amid bitter relations between India and Bangladesh during the December–January period. However, KKR have signed Zimbabwe pacer Blessing Muzarabani as a replacement.

The Zimbabwean quick made headlines by opting out of his contract with Islamabad United in the Pakistan Super League to take up this IPL opportunity. Meanwhile, Kolkata Knight Riders will begin their IPL 2026 on March 29 by facing Mumbai Indians.
