IPL 2026: Vaibhav Sooryavanshi caps off the season with historic award sweep

Rajasthan Royals sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi capped off a fruitful IPL 2026 campaign by bagging three of the tournament's biggest individual honours. He won the Most Valuable Player (MVP), Orange Cap, and Emerging Player awards. The teenage batting prodigy enjoyed one of the most extraordinary seasons in IPL history, finishing as the tournament's leading run-scorer with 776 runs from 16 innings and maintaining a staggering strike rate of 237.30.
Sooryavanshi has now become the first cricketer ever to win both the MVP and Emerging Player awards in the same IPL season. His fearless approach has made him one of the most dangerous players in the tournament. Sooryavanshi's power-hitting was particularly breathtaking as he cracked an incredible 72 sixes throughout the season, setting a new IPL record for the most sixes in a single edition.
With that record, he also surpassed the long-standing record of 59 sixes set by Chris Gayle. Gujarat Titans pacer Kagiso Rabada claimed the Purple Cap after taking 29 wickets in 17 matches. In their campaigns at IPL 2026, Rajasthan Royals made it to the playoffs before losing to Gujarat Titans in Qualifier 2.
Gujarat Titans, on the other hand, stormed into the final with a win over RR in Qualifier 2, but they were outplayed by RCB in the summit clash, suffering a disappointing loss.
