PSL 2026: Babar's Peshawar Zalmi clash with first-timers Rawalpindi Pindiz

The third match of the ongoing Pakistan Super League will see Peshawar Zalmi face off against the newly formed Rawalpindi Pindiz in what will be their first-ever encounter at Lahore’s iconic Gaddafi Stadium on Saturday. Peshawar Zalmi, who have been known for their consistency over the years, head into the tournament with a well-balanced squad. Under the leadership of Babar Azam, Zalmi has a strong top order. Alongside Babar, Mohammad Haris is another explosive batter, capable of unsettling any bowling attack early in the innings.
Their lineup is further strengthened by all-round options Aaron Hardie and Michael Bracewell, who can provide both batting depth and bowling help. Despite not lifting the trophy since their 2017 win, Peshawar's consistent performances make them a formidable contender.
On the other hand, Rawalpindi Pindiz, the most expensive team in the league’s history, will make their PSL debut. Led by Mohammad Rizwan, the Pindiz have a robust line-up. Their bowling unit is particularly eye-catching. Young pace sensation Naseem Shah, who commanded a record-breaking price in the auction, headlines a formidable attack that also includes the experienced Mohammad Amir. In the batting department, overseas-talented players like Daryl Mitchell and Sam Billings bring batting depth.
