Delhi Capitals have made a splendid start to their IPL 2026 campaign, pulling off a composed six-wicket win over Lucknow Super Giants in a match that swung dramatically after an early wobble on Wednesday in Lucknow. Chasing 142, DC couldn’t have asked for a worse start after KL Rahul departed for a duck, and Pathum Nissanka followed soon after with one run to his name. That’s when Sameer Rizvi stepped in and took charge of the chase.

Playing with confidence, Rizvi anchored the innings with a brilliant unbeaten 70. Alongside him, Tristan Stubbs played the perfect supporting role, smashing an unbeaten 39. The duo stitched together a match-winning 119-run partnership that took the game away from Lucknow, guiding DC home comfortably with 17 balls to spare. Earlier, DC’s bowlers laid the foundation for the win.

Lungi Ngidi and T Natarajan were outstanding with the ball, claiming three wickets each and never allowing LSG to settle. Natarajan’s control at the death and Ngidi’s disciplined pace kept the scoring in check throughout. Kuldeep Yadav chipped in with two crucial wickets, ensuring LSG were restricted to 141. LSG, after being asked to bat, didn't have a magnificent start. However, they had a few bright spots with the bat. Mitchell Marsh looked solid during his 35 off 28 balls, while Abdul Samad added late momentum with a quickfire 36 off 25.

Still, regular wickets kept LSG under the pump throughout the innings. LSG's reliable batters, like Aiden Markram, Rishabh Pant and Nicholas Pooran, failed in their execution, managing 11, 7 and 8, respectively.
