Delhi Capitals endured a heart-breaking one-run loss against Gujarat Titans in their IPL 2026 match on Wednesday at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. Despite a sensational knock from KL Rahul and a late flourish from David Miller, DC failed to go over the line while chasing an enormous target of 211. In their chase, DC got off to a strong start after KL Rahul delivered a masterclass performance under pressure, blasting a much-needed 92-run knock off 52 balls. His thunderous assault kept DC in the chase, helping the side keeping up with the required run rate.

However, DC's chase took a sharp turn after KL Rahul's dismissal in the 17th over. Meanwhile, David Miller produced a fiery counterattack, slamming an unbeaten 41 off 20. The real drama came in the final over when GT bowler Prasidh Krishna defended 13 runs off the final over, not allowing David Miller to pull off a valiant win. David Miller turned down a single on the penultimate delivery of the 20th over, and he couldn't execute the final delivery that cost DC the match by one run. Speaking on DC's chase, captain Axar Patel believed that the side could have played better cricket.

"Yeah, obviously the way we are playing, I think both teams played very good cricket. And yeah, I think, this type of close game, you can, you know, point out anything. So I think, yes, we played very good cricket," Patel said during the post-match presentation.

"As I said earlier, in a close chase, in a close game, you can point out a lot of such things. But I think in the chase, I think we could have played smarter the way we lost wickets at crucial times. I think if that hadn't happened, we could have finished the chase earlier," he said.

Patel also lauded the extraordinary performance by KL Rahul that kept the side in the chase for a long time.

"Yeah, obviously KL played a very good innings. The way the powerplay was going, after that he kept the momentum going. When wickets were falling, he kept the momentum going from one side. He did not let the run rate go down. So I think it was very good batting. I think we are playing good cricket, and yes, we will finish it in the next match," Patel added.
