IPL 2026: SRH's Praful Hinge opens up about dream IPL debut

Undoubtedly, the IPL has always been a stage where unknown names can transform into overnight sensations, and that's what happened with Praful Hinge, who impressed everyone with his high-voltage performance. Making his IPL debut while representing Sunrisers Hyderabad, the 24-year-old right-arm quick rose to the occasion with the new ball against Rajasthan Royals. He confronted RR's dangerous opener Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, removing him for a duck.
Within the same over, he went on to remove Dhruv Jurel and Lhuan-dre Pretorius, dismantling the Royals’ top order. With the help of a fiery spell, he also became the first bowler ever to claim three wickets in the opening over of an innings. He returned in his next over to claim the wicket of RR captain Riyan Parag, putting SRH into complete dominance of the proceedings.
"I think I wrote it somewhere last year that the first match I play, I will take four or five wickets. And I will dominate the powerplay as much as I could," Hinge said at the post-match presentation.
"I started playing cricket at the age of 13. I didn't know what leather-ball cricket was. But, at the age of 13, I told my father that I wanted to join a club. Initially, he refused, but he took me there, and that's how I started my cricket. I want to dedicate this award to my family. They have sacrificed a lot for me, and I am so happy," he said.
Praful also talked about Sooryvanshi's dismissal, which he thought was the best. Notably, Sooryavanshi has been in glittering form, but against Hinge he couldn't replicate his performance.
"The best was Sooryvanshi's dismissal because he is in form. I had told people that I would bowl a bouncer to dismiss him," he added.
Talking about the match, SRH clinched a 57-run win to return to winning ways. Earlier, after being asked to bat, SRH had posted a mammoth total of 216/6 in 20 overs, riding on a 91-run knock from Ishan Kishan. Defending the total, RR bowled RR out for 159 in 20 overs. For RR, Ravindra Jadeja and Donovan Ferreira blasted 45 and 69 runs, respectively, to revive RR's chase, but after their dismissals, RR crashed to a massive defeat, suffering their first defeat of the IPL 2026.
