Afghanistan's star leg-spinner Rashid Khan has revealed that he was approached by two countries, including India, with the offer of citizenship and the opportunity to represent them internationally. However, Rashid Khan turned down the offer. The revelation comes from his upcoming book, Rashid Khan: From Streets to Stardom. According to Rashid, these conversations took place during the 2023 Indian Premier League. At that time, he was representing Gujarat Titans and recalled being approached by a BCCI official.

"I received such offers (citizenship and playing) from both Australia and India. But I told them, 'If I don't play for my country, I won't play for any other country either,' Rashid wrote in his book.

"I went over and greeted him. We started talking, and he said: 'The situation in your country (Afghanistan) is very bad. Come stay in India. We will give you Indian documents, live here, play cricket here.' I was surprised by what he was saying and didn't know how to respond. But I smiled and said, 'Thank you very much. I am playing for my country, Afghanistan," Rashid added.

Currently, Rashid Khan is involved in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026, representing Gujarat Titans. So far, Titans have done pretty well in the tournament, claiming three victories in five games. They are positioned sixth in the points table with six points and a positive NRR of +0.018.
