Chennai Super Kings have been dealt a crushing blow after their star batter Ayush Mhatre was ruled out of the IPL 2026 with a hamstring injury. According to CSK, the injury will require 6-12 weeks to heal, putting him out of action for the remainder of the tournament.

"Ayush Mhatre has been ruled out of the remainder of IPL 2026 due to a left hamstring injury sustained while batting during the match against Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 18. Ayush's injury will require a rehabilitation period of 6-12 weeks," CSK said in a statement.

His absence will be a big setback for the franchise given his outstanding performance in the previous games. He has been a consistent performer for CSK in the past games, performing brilliantly at the top of order. Having featured in six games for CSK, Mhatre has amassed 201 runs, including two half-centuries.

Notably, CSK have encountered a flurry of setbacks since the start of IPL 2026. They began their campaign with three defeats on the bounce. However, they bounced back strongly, registering two consecutive wins. But they once again lost the momentum going down against SRH in Ahmedabad in their sixth match. In their upcoming clash, CSK will face Mumbai Indians on Thursday at Wankhede Stadium.
