Tamim Iqbal remains hopeful of India tour
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is optimistic that India will travel to Bangladesh for a six-match white-ball series during the 2026-27 international season. The series, which was initially scheduled to three ODIs and three T20Is, has faced repeated delays following a period of strained relations between the cricket boards of the two countries. However, according to BCB president Tamim Iqbal discussions are moving in a more positive direction.
"All I can tell you is that both the cricket boards are in discussion. It is a fruitful talk, and I am hopeful this will happen," Tamim said as quoted by Cricbuzz.
Notably, the BCB had earlier confirmed the tour on January 2. However, soon afterwards, relations between the two cricket boards deteriorated following a dispute involving Bangladesh fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman and his departure from the Indian Premier League.
At that time, Bangladesh was operating under an interim administration, which directed the BCB to withdraw from the T20 World Cup scheduled for February. Now, there is an elected leadership in place and efforts are underway to make the series happen.
