Sydney Sixers have appointed James Hopes, who is a former Australian all-rounder, as their new BBL head coach on a two-year contract, replacing former coach Greg Shipperd. Hopes is also the incumbent bowling coach of Punjab Kings in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

"I'm incredibly honoured to join the Sydney Sixers, a club with a proud history and a strong identity built on consistency, competitiveness and connection with its fans. I'm excited to work with a talented playing group and contribute to the next phase of the Sixers' success in the BBL," Hopes said on his appointment.

During his playing career, he represented Australia in 84 ODIs and 12 T20Is, and his last appearance for Australia came way back in 2010. Meanwhile, this will mark his first experience as head coach; however, he carries enormous experience as a bowling coach, having worked with Washington Freedom in Major League Cricket (MLC).
