Usman Tariq signs for Warwickshire Bears for T20 blast

Pakistan’s mystery spinner Usman Tariq has signed with Warwickshire County Cricket Club for the upcoming Vitality T20 Blast. He will be available for the entire campaign, bringing his unique skillset to English county cricket for the first time. Over the past two years, he progressed from his senior T20 debut to earning international caps for Pakistan.
Tariq, who made his international T20 debut in 2025, has delivered eye-catching performances, claiming 18 wickets in nine T20Is at an outstanding average of 11.16 and an economy rate of 6.66. A key factor behind his success is his unconventional bowling style. Tariq combines offbreaks, googlies, and cleverly disguised legbreak variations, all delivered with a distinctive pause before release. Moreover, Tariq carries the experience of Pakistan Super League and Caribbean Premier League.
“I am very excited to bring more fun and energy to the Bears. I can’t wait to get involved with the squad, and it’s a great feeling to be part of this team. I hope to see as many people as possible at Edgbaston this summer,” Tariq said in a Warwickshire release.
Tariq’s stint in Birmingham won’t end with the Blast. He is also due to feature in The Hundred, representing Birmingham Phoenix, with both teams sharing their home at the iconic Edgbaston Cricket Ground. Meanwhile, Warwickshire will begin their Vitality Blast campaign against Gloucestershire in Bristol on May 22.
