Fast bowler overlooked as Australia name women's T20 World Cup squad

Australia have unveiled an experienced 15-player squad for the upcoming ICC Women’s T20I World Cup, set to begin on June 12 in England and Wales. The side will enter the tournament under the leadership of captain Sophie Molineux, with star all-rounders Ashleigh Gardner and Tahlia McGrath serving as vice-captains. In a big move, Australia have included fast bowler Lucy Hamilton, who has earned her maiden T20 World Cup call-up after a tremendous rise.
Hamilton, who recently turned 20, impressed selectors with her performances during her debut international series in March. Having featured across all three formats, the young star's impressive performance helped her secure a place ahead of fellow pacer Darcie Brown, who struggled to make an impact during Australia’s white-ball tour of the West Indies, finishing wicketless in three matches.
Hamilton joins experienced names such as Megan Schutt and Kim Garth. Australia's squad also boasts other stars such as Annabel Sutherland, McGrath, Ellyse Perry, and Nicola Carey, who will further bolster the side. Explosive batter Grace Harris has also made her return to the side after being left out of the T20I squad that toured West Indies earlier this year.
Australia T20I World Cup squad: Sophie Molineux (c), Nicola Carey, Ash Gardner, Kim Garth, Lucy Hamilton, Grace Harris, Alana King, Phoebe Litchfield, Tahlia McGrath, Beth Mooney, Ellyse Perry, Megan Schutt, Annabel Sutherland, Georgia Voll, Georgia Wareham. Travelling reserve: Tahlia Wilson
