Rishabh Pant cops massive fine for slow over-rate

Lucknow Super Giants captain Rishabh Pant has been fined INR 12 lakh after his team maintained a slow over-rate during LSG's match against Chennai Super Kings at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow on Friday. 

The penalty was imposed under Article 2.22 of the IPL’s Code of Conduct, which deals with minimum over-rate offences. Since it was Lucknow Super Giants’ first such offence of the season, the punishment remained limited to a monetary fine for the captain, as per league regulations.

“Rishabh Pant, captain, Lucknow Super Giants, has been fined after his team maintained a slow over-rate during Match No. 59 of Indian Premier League 2026 against Chennai Super Kings at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow on Friday," the IPL stated in a release. 

"As this was his team’s first offence of the season under Article 2.22 of the IPL’s Code of Conduct, which pertains to minimum over-rate offences, Rishabh Pant was fined INR 12 lakhs,” said an IPL media advisory," It added.

Meanwhile, LSG secured a seven-wicket win over CSK following an opening stand of 135 between Mitchell Marsh and Josh Inglis. Marsh smashed a marvellous knock of 90 while Inglis blasted 36 runs.
