Punjab Kings scripted a remarkable chase as skipper Shreyas Iyer played a breathtaking knock to guide his team to a crucial seven-wicket victory over Lucknow Super Giants in a high-scoring IPL encounter on Saturday in Lucknow. Chasing a challenging target of 197, Punjab Kings suffered an early setback when Priyansh Arya departed for a duck. However, the pressure was quickly eased by an aggressive innings from Prabhsimran Singh, who attacked the bowlers from the very beginning.

His 69 off 39 deliveries gave Punjab an upper hand. In the middle, Shreyas Iyer took complete command of the game, blasting a blistering 101* off 51 to guide the side to a splendid win. His magnificent century turned the chase into a one-sided affair as Lucknow’s bowlers struggled to contain the assault from Iyer.

Earlier, Lucknow Super Giants, asked to bat, had managed to post a competitive total of 196/6 in 20 overs after recovering from a shaky start. The hosts were in trouble early after slipping to 20/2, but Josh Inglis steadied the innings brilliantly, playing an incredible knock of 72 from 44 balls, hitting nine fours and two sixes. Inglis was helped by Ayush Badoni, who played a fiery cameo of 43 off 18 balls.
