Three days out from the opening ODI match against Pakistan, Australia have been dealt a crushing blow, with captain Mitchell Marsh being ruled out of the series due to an ankle injury, and his availability for the Bangladesh ODIs will be ascertained in due course, Cricket Australia confirmed on Tuesday. In Marsh's absence, Josh Inglis will step up to lead the side that is already missing some of the experienced stars.

In Marsh's absence, Josh Inglis will step up to lead the side that is already missing some of the experienced stars. Australia are already without Travis Head and Pat Cummins, who are involved in the IPL playoff that clashes with the ODI series.

Marsh was last week absent from Lucknow Super Giants' final match of the IPL 2026 against Punjab Kings after heading back to Australia and was scheduled to take the reins. However, the latest setback has not allowed him to link up with the squad in Pakistan. Inglis previously captained Australia in an ODI and three T20Is, becoming the fourth-choice captain for the ODI series. Australia will take on Pakistan in the first ODI on Saturday at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. The second and third ODIs will be played in Lahore on June 2 and 4, respectively.

Australia squad: Alex Carey, Nathan Ellis, Cameron Green, Josh Inglis (c), Matthew Kuhnemann, Marnus Labuschagne, Riley Meredith, Ollie Peake, Matthew Renshaw, Tanveer Sangha, Liam Scott, Matthew Short, Billy Stanlake, Adam Zampa
