India sealed a crushing 64-run win over bitter rivals Pakistan in their Women's T20 World Cup clash, with Deepti Sharma claiming an outstanding five wickets for 10 runs in four overs on Sunday at Edgbaston. At the start, Pakistan appeared to be in control of things after they reached 75/3 in pursuit of India's challenging total of 170.

However, Deepti's brilliance completely changed the course of the match as she dismantled Pakistan's batting lineup, triggering a stunning collapse that saw Pakistan bowled out for 106 in 17 overs. India, on the other hand, had laid a solid foundation with the bat following vice-captain Smriti Mandhana's massive knock of 68 runs.

Richa Ghosh plundered an aggressive unbeaten 34 to guide India to a respectable total of 170/6 in 20 overs. Meanwhile, with her performance, Deepti reached personal milestones. Her five-wicket haul took her tally to 166 wickets in Women's T20Is, making her the highest wicket-taker in the format's history. The memorable performance also witnessed Deepti cross another landmark, becoming only the second Indian woman, after legendary fast bowler Jhulan Goswami, to surpass 350 wickets in international cricket.

"I am very grateful. I like these kinds of wickets. All credit goes to the team. And I am grateful that Hanuman ji is great. I like ICC tournaments," Deepti said after the match.
