Young Indian cricketer Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Sri Lanka's Vishen Halambage were involved in a tense confrontation after the hosts secured victory in a Super Over one-day tri-series clash between Sri Lanka A and India A in Dambulla on Monday. It had already been a high-voltage showdown, with both teams putting out the same total after 50 overs, taking the match into a Super Over. Sri Lanka A held their nerve in the decider, slamming 16 runs.

Chasing the target, India A struggled to find momentum against the impressive Kugathas Mathulan. Mathulan nicely restricted India to 9/0, including Sooryavanshi and Suryansh Shedge, helping Sri Lanka A seal a memorable win. As the Indian players began leaving the field, exchanges between members of the two sides appeared to take a different turn. Visual footage from the ground showed Sooryavanshi gesturing with his bat while looking toward Halambage.

Moments later, Sooryavanshi turned back and became involved in a verbal altercation with the Sri Lankan player. The situation escalated quickly, with both players coming closer and making physical contact during the heated exchange. Sri Lanka A wicketkeeper Niroshan Dickwella intervened quickly and helped prevent the incident from worsening. His intervention played a key role in pacifying both the players. Even after the situation was brought under control, Sooryavanshi appeared incredibly frustrated.

Talking about the match, India A, after being asked to bat, had piled up 265 before being bowled out in 49.2 overs. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi scored 21 off 14 balls. Sri Lanka A, on the other hand, also scored 265 in 50 overs after losing nine wickets.
