Rishabh Pant set to return to Delhi Capitals

Rishabh Pant is set for a reunion with his erstwhile franchise Delhi Capitals ahead of IPL 2027. According to reports, Lucknow Super Giants and Delhi Capitals are in the final stages of negotiating a deal that would see Pant move back to Delhi, while left-arm wrist-spinner Kuldeep Yadav will be heading to LSG. Although the deal is yet to be officially completed, both teams are working through the remaining formalities before asking for approval from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
Notably, Pant became the most expensive player in IPL history when LSG acquired him for INR 27 crore during the 2025 mega auction. However, his return to Delhi is expected to come at a reduced amount of INR 15 crore. The financial developments of the deal are incredible. Kuldeep Yadav's salary at DC remains at INR 13.25 crore, and Lucknow would free up an additional INR 13.75 crore in their auction purse after the trade. Delhi, meanwhile, would need to increase their spending by INR 1.25 crore to accommodate Pant's revised contract value.
Pant, who had two seasons with LSG, endured highly disappointing campaigns, failing to repay the faith. Under his leadership, the franchise finished at the bottom in the IPL 2026. Following which, he also stepped as captain.
