Harshit Rana overlooked as ex-Indian cricketer picks his XI for final ODI against Afghanistan

Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra did not include Harshit Rana in his predicted playing XI for India's third and final ODI against Afghanistan, to be played on Saturday in Chennai, despite the fast bowler being added to the squad. India have already secured the three-match ODI series, taking an unassailable 2-0 lead and giving the management an opportunity to experiment with the lineup. Harshit Rana was added to India's squad on Friday after recovering from a lengthy injury layoff.

However, Chopra chose not to include Rana in his preferred XI. Chopra rather backed Yashasvi Jaiswal to feature in the side. Jaiswal, who missed the series opener, played in the second ODI in Lucknow, but he was dismissed for 4. Notably, Jaiswal was brought into the side to replace Virat Kohli, who was ruled out of the series due to a hamstring injury. Chopra also made a change in the pace-bowling department by replacing Arshdeep Singh with Nitish Kumar Reddy.

"Yashasvi has been played only one match. So let him play. Bite the bullet and say that we want to play Nitish Kumar Reddy if he is fit, so we will play like this only. Make Arshdeep Singh sit out and play Nitish Kumar Reddy. Say that you won't make Yashasvi sit out because I have got no idea when he would get a chance to play again," Chopra said on his YouTube channel.

Meanwhile, India, having taken control of the series, would look to complete the series sweep. On the other hand, it is a must-win clash for Afghanistan to salvage pride and end the series on a winning note.
