Mahidul Islam earns Test call-up as Litton Das remains sidelined

Litton Das has been ruled out of Bangladesh's upcoming one-off Test against Zimbabwe in Harare, with Mahidul Islam brought in to replace the injured Litton Das. Das has been ruled out after failing to make complete recovery from a calf injury picked up during Bangladesh's recent ODI series against Australia. He suffered a strain in his left calf, following which the team management has opted not to risk his fitness.
"Das is recovering from a left calf strain and has already missed the recently concluded T20I series against Australia. The BCB Medical Team has assessed his condition and is of the opinion that the batsman will struggle to attain match fitness for the Test within the available timeframe," the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) said in a statement.
"The BCB National Selection Panel has called up 27-year-old wicketkeeper-batsman Mahidul Islam Bhuiyan as Das's replacement in the Test squad," it added.
The injury had already kept Litton out of Bangladesh's three-match T20I series against Australia, which concluded on Sunday. In his absence, Towhid Hridoy led the side. However, the stand-in captain faced a difficult challenge, with Bangladesh failing to find their rhythm and suffering a 3-0 whitewash in the series.
Bangladesh Test squad: Najmul Hossain Shanto (c), Shadman Islam, Mahmudul Hasan Joy, Tanzid Hasan, Mominul Haque, Mushfiqur Rahim, Mahidul Islam Ankon, Taijul Islam, Nayeem Hasan, Syed Khaled Ahmed, Ebadot Hossain Chowdhury, Hasan Mahmud, Tawhid Hridoy, Amite Hasan, Robiul Haque
