Eight teams seal spots for Women's T20 World Cup 2028

The competition for a place in the Women's T20 World Cup 2028 has started, with eight teams securing automatic qualification through their performances in the ongoing edition of the tournament. All eight nations were able to secure their places after finishing among the top four teams in their respective groups.
From Group 1, Australia, India, South Africa and Bangladesh have booked their places, and from Group 2, England, West Indies, New Zealand and Sri Lanka were the four teams to progress automatically. Pakistan, who finished fifth in Group 2 with only one victory from five matches, have also secured a place in the next tournament due to being the host nation.
One automatic place is still available and will be given based on the ICC women's T20I rankings at the official cut-off date of July 6, 2026. Currently, Ireland hold that position as the ninth-ranked team in the world, putting them in line to claim the remaining direct qualification spot if the rankings remain unchanged.
