Zimbabwe Cricket confirms new leadership for men's and women's teams

Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) has confirmed a new captaincy structure for the senior teams. Fast bowler Richard Ngarava has been handed the men's Test and ODI captaincy, while experienced all-rounder Sikandar Raza will continue to captain the T20I side.

In women's team, Josephine Nkomo has been confirmed as the captain of the national team. The leadership appointments were approved following recommendations from the Zimbabwe Cricket Board's Cricket Committee and later ratified during a board meeting held in Harare on 23 June 2026.

Ngarava recently led Zimbabwe in the one-off Test against Bangladesh at the Harare Sports Club. The Test was won by Zimbabwe by an innings and ​85 runs.
