India captain Shubman Gill has put an end to speculation that senior batter Rohit Sharma is preparing to call time on his international career. The rumours began to swirl during the recently concluded ODI series against England. Reports and discussions had gathered pace ahead of the third and final ODI at Lord's, with reports suggesting that the final ODI could be the last match for Rohit Sharma in international cricket. However, Gill made it clear after the game that no such conversation had taken place within the Indian dressing room.

"He's not told us anything. I think it's all out in the media, but there's not been any discussion like that in the team," Gill said at the press conference.

In the third ODI, Rohit Sharma made a sensational comeback, hitting a masterful knock of 138 off 100, blasting 17 boundaries and five sixes. Despite Rohit's ton, England claimed a 27-run win, with Ben Duckett firing an outstanding 141.

"I think the way Rohit bhai paced his innings was marvellous. Most of the time, I was at the non-striker's end just watching him bat. Our discussion was to keep wickets in hand because that was the only way to create chance to chase such a big total," Gill said.

"During the powerplay, we spoke about whether we should start hitting or not, but we know it's not easy to attack against the new ball. The way he paced his innings, and once he got into the 60s and 70s, it was really wonderful to watch," Gill stated.
