"It felt like I was in my zone": Sooryavanshi after slamming fifty against Zimbabwe
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi showed his batting pyrotechnics with a memorable performance during India's first T20I against Zimbabwe on Thursday in Harare. The young opener blasted a whirlwind half-century that not only powered India to victory but also helped him achieve a mammoth milestone. The teenage star reached his fifty from 18 balls, becoming the youngest cricketer ever to score a half-century in international cricket. Speaking after the match, the left-handed opener admitted the fact that every opportunity at the international level is strengthening his self-belief.
"When it's the starting phase of your career, and you get these kinds of innings early on, and you perform well, it builds confidence for the upcoming matches," Sooryavanshi was quoted as saying in a video posted by BCCI.
"It felt like I was in my zone, and I just backed my strengths. That was all."
Sooryavanshi also highlighted the importance of the support system that has helped him in his cricket career so far. The youngster expressed gratitude to his family, coaches, teammates, and everyone who believed in his potential from an early age.
"I would like to dedicate this (fifty) to my family, my coaches, and to everyone who has supported me along my journey, through every good and bad phase."
