Bangladesh have suffered a huge jolt ahead of their upcoming World Test Championship campaign against Australia, with two of their frontline fast bowlers unavailable for the highly anticipated series beginning on 13 August. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has confirmed that pacer Nahid Rana will miss the entire tour after suffering a serious side injury during Bangladesh's recent T20I series against Zimbabwe.

Rana experienced discomfort during the match and was unable to continue, prompting medical examinations that later revealed a Grade 2 strain on the left side of his body. The injury is expected to keep him out of action for almost six to eight weeks.

"He is expected to require approximately four weeks for tissue healing, followed by a further two-to-four weeks of bowling workload progression. His overall recovery period is estimated at six to eight weeks from the date of injury," BCB said in a statement.

Left-arm seamer Shoriful Islam is making steady improvements after sustaining a Grade 1 hamstring injury on the Zimbabwe tour. However, Shoriful is unlikely to recover in time for the opening Test, but he is expected to be fit for the second match of the series, scheduled to begin on 22 August. Litton Das, recovering from a left calf muscle injury, could also return for the second Test if he successfully clears the assessment.
