Bangladesh confirm squad for first Australia Test, Soumya Sarkar makes comeback

Bangladesh have confirmed their squad for the first Test of the upcoming two-match Test series against Australia, with captain Najmul Hossain Shanto set to lead the side in a historic challenge. The tour is Bangladesh's first Test assignment in Australia in more than two decades, with their last appearance on Australian soil coming back in 2003.
These matches form part of the ICC World Test Championship 2025–27 cycle. Bangladesh have brought in Soumya Sarkar, who returns to Bangladesh's Test setup for the first time since 2021. The squad also features the likes of Mushfiqur Rahim, Tanzid Hasan, and Mominul Haque, who will be central to Bangladesh's batting attack. Bangladesh, however, face a challenge in the bowling department after injuries caused havoc to their fast-bowling resources.
Bangladesh will expect Taskin Ahmed to spearhead the pace attack, who will be helped by Hasan Mahmud, Khaled Ahmed, and the returning Ebadot Hossain. The selectors have also handed a maiden Test call-up to fast bowler Musfik Hasan. The first Test will begin on August 13 in Darwin.
Bangladesh squad: Najmul Hossain Shanto (c), Soumya Sarkar, Shadman Islam, Tanzid Hasan, Mominul Haque, Mushfiqur Rahim, Amite Hasan, Jaker Ali Anik, Mehidy Hasan Miraz (vc), Taijul Islam, Taskin Ahmed, Hasan Mahmud, Syed Khaled Ahmed, Ebadot Hossain Chowdhury, Musfik Hasan
