Hardik Pandya trade rumours dismissed as MI provide massive update
Amid the speculation surrounding Hardik Pandya's future with the Mumbai Indians, there have been fresh reports rejecting claims of a trade with the Chennai Super Kings. There were swirling reports on social media hinting at a player exchange between the two franchises; however, Mumbai Indians have denied that any such discussions are taking place.
Earlier rumours were rife that Chennai Super Kings were preparing a major offer to secure Hardik Pandya. The deal reportedly involved two players moving to Mumbai, including powerful middle-order batter Shivam Dube, believed to be one of the names included in the deal.
Meanwhile, a Mumbai Indians spokesperson has brushed aside the speculations, stating that the franchise has not held trade discussions with Chennai Super Kings or any other IPL team. The official also asserted that the management is still evaluating the team's performance from the IPL 2026 season.
“Our post-season review is currently on, and we are looking into all aspects of the team. Contrary to reports, we are not engaged in conversations with regard to player trades; the same is only possible once the review is complete. A range of options and ideas are being evaluated, which require time; hence, no decisions have been made," a a Mumbai Indians official told Sportstar.
Hardik was appointed Mumbai Indians captain ahead of the 2024 IPL season, returning to the franchise after leading Gujarat Titans to new heights. However, under his leadership, MI have struggled to maintain consistency. The disappointment continued during the IPL 2026 as well, where Mumbai Indians failed to secure a place in the playoffs.
