England unveil squad for Pakistan Tests

England have named their squad for the opening two matches of the upcoming three-match Test series against Pakistan, with Jacob Bethell set to miss the series due to injury. To strenghten the squad, England have recalled Dan Lawrence and Ollie Pope. Dan Lawrence returns to the Test side for the first time in two years.

The three-match series is England's first Test assignment since a disappointing campaign against New Zealand, where England suffered a 1-2 series defeat. Veteran star Joe Root will lead the side after taking charge of the team following the international retirement of Ben Stokes. Fast bowler Brydon Carse has also earned a recall. The first Test will begin on 19 August in Headingley.
