Sri Lanka unveil squad for opening Test against India

Sri Lanka have announced their squad for the first Test against India, with Dhananjaya De Silva set to captain the side. Sri Lanka have recalled veteran wicket-keeper Niroshan Dickwella, who returns to the Test side after three years. His last appearance for Sri Lanka in Tests came in 2023.
Meanwhile, experienced players Kusal Mendis and Pathum Nissanka have been ruled out of the first Test. Despite few notable names missing out, the squad still remains solid with the likes of Lahiru Udara, Nishan Madushka, Dinesh Chandimal, Pasindu Sooriyabandara, Ramesh Mendis, Prabath Jayasuriya, Asitha Fernando and Lahiru kumara.
The series is part of the ICC World Test Championship 2025-27 cycle, making these two Test really crucial. The first Test will begin on August 15 at the Galle International Cricket Stadium.
