India suffer heavy blow, Sai Sudharsan ruled out of Sri Lanka Tests
Ahead of the upcoming Test series against Sri Lanka, India have suffered another setback, with Sai Sudharsan reportedly ruled out after failing to recover from a toe injury. The left-hander had been a promising performer on India A’s recent tour of Sri Lanka, smashing two impressive centuries across the two Tests. However, his blistering run came to an unfortunate end when he sustained a toe injury during the second match against Sri Lanka A. Sudharsan has remained under rehabilitation at the Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru since picking up the injury.
“Sai Sudharsan has been ruled out of India's two-match Test series against Sri Lanka due to an injury. The batter reportedly trained at the Centre of Excellence (COE) in Bengaluru, where he also took part in batting and fielding drills. However, he was unlikely to recover in time for the first Test against Sri Lanka, scheduled to begin in Galle on August 15," a BCCI source told ANI.
The blow adds to a growing list of injury concerns surrounding the Indian camp. Jasprit Bumrah has already been ruled out of the Sri Lanka series. There is also uncertainty surrounding Washington Sundar. While the all-rounder remains part of India’s plans, his availability for the second Test remains uncertain.
