“Absolutely ready”: Bhuvneshwar Kumar on playing ODI World Cup 2027
Indian pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar has received tremendous backing in the last few months, with former cricketers and cricket experts asserting that the veteran pacer should be given a recall to India’s ODI squad for the upcoming World Cup 2027. The support grew following his incredibly outstanding performances in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 in which he nabbed 28 wickets to play a notable role in RCB’s back-to-back title wins. He also became the first fast bowler in the IPL history to take 200 wickets.
Now speaking amid the growing discussion, Bhuvneshwar Kumar revealed that he will be absolutely ready if recalled to the national side; however, his focus as of now remains on enhancing his game.
“Why would I say no if I get a call? Absolutely ready,” Bhuvneswar Kumar said, as quoted by Hindustan Times.
“Honestly, I cannot say exactly how ready I am. My job is to play cricket and that is why I have come here to play in the UP T20 league. I didn’t come here with the intention of moving to another place or reaching another level,” he said.
“We play IPL knowing we have to perform and win matches for the team, but I didn’t come here to the UP T20 league hoping to get picked elsewhere or because someone said something,” he said.
Bhuvneshwar had been a big part of India’s bowling lineup until 2022 before finding himself on the sidelines due to injury setbacks. His last appearance for India in ODIs came in January 2022. Overall, he has represented India in 121 ODIs, boasting 141 wickets.
